After seven years as an employed beautician, becoming self-employed was a logical next step for her. ‘I always wanted a studio of my own,’ explains the state-certified beautician. ‘I’ve worked toward it over the past few years and have now put the idea into practice.’

Leonie Heine knew by eighth grade that her calling lay in the beauty industry. Because of her ties to home and love of the Harz, becoming a makeup artist who often works around the world was not an option. Instead, after school she trained as a state-certified beautician at Bad Harzburg vocational school. She spent seven years gaining experience as an employee at a beauty studio in Braunschweig and undertook further training in various treatment methods. ‘I’m delighted that my services have been well received from the start,’ says the founder. ‘The emotional support of family and friends was a great help in putting my plan into practice.’

She also credits WiReGo with an important role in making her self-employment a success. She attended the startup course, whose five linked events teach the essentials of starting a business in a concise, practical way. Individual advice also actively supported her as she prepared a business plan. ‘It helped me enormously to learn the background knowledge for my own business,’ Leonie Heine says.

The home advantage in Hahndorf

The founder deliberately chose a location in her quiet home village. Being well known there generated good word of mouth from the outset. Located directly on the main road to Goslar, her studio also catches the attention of many commuters. Easy access and free parking are major location advantages. Rents in the outlying districts are also more affordable than in central Goslar.

She also runs Instagram and TikTok channels to raise awareness. Her affinity for social media makes it easy to build a community, and reposts give her good reach.

Modern treatments appeal to younger clients too

Both her modern studio and innovative treatments such as Aqua Facial and microneedling set her apart and appeal to a younger audience. Using products from Braunschweig natural cosmetics manufacturer Dr. Belter, the experienced beautician also successfully treats problem skin, including acne and rosacea.

Information: leoniecosmetics.de

Leonie Heine fulfills her dream of owning a beauty studio.
