Her offering reflects the path Jasmin Frommhold has taken in recent years: developing a healthy lifestyle and a life that fits her values and personality. The 42-year-old trained wholesale and export clerk has helped people find greater joy in life alongside her main job since 2018. This year, she took the step into full-time self-employment. With ‘Harz Happiness’, she offers a broad range of activities intended to use the power of nature to bring lasting improvements in health, happiness and mindful living.
The name says it all: Jasmin Frommhold was born in the Harz region and moved back after several years away. For her, ‘Happiness’ means both short moments of joy in the here and now and long-term satisfaction with life. Her background shows how deeply she cares about people’s well-being and the power of nature. As a health psychologist, certified health coach, forest mindfulness trainer and writing educator – to name just some of her qualifications – she combines her specialist knowledge with nature’s powerful effects. Through talks, workshops, mindfulness-based experiences in nature and coaching, she shares her approaches to health promotion and personal development, usually in the forest as a place of experience.
Until a pivotal moment during her part-time studies in Prevention and Health Psychology at SRH Riedlingen, self-employment had never been on her mind. Then the incentive of a university ideas competition led her to develop her business idea. She submitted her business model and won. That gave her the impetus to expand her offering and make it viable in the long term. ‘One thing led to another, and doors opened that hadn’t existed before and that I’d never imagined,’ the founder says of her unexpected career path. Her curiosity was sparked, and Jasmin Frommhold set about putting her ideas into practice.
Alongside her main job and part-time studies, she spent countless hours finding a name, designing her offering, networking, building a website and much more. Friends and family supported her. ‘I owe a great deal to my husband in particular,’ the founder stresses. ‘He encouraged me in everything, took care of technical matters and was my test subject for new offerings.’ WiReGo’s startup event series gave her a good overview of the issues involved in starting a business and the basic knowledge on which she based her business plan. WiReGo’s personal support was equally important. ‘I could call at any time, ask my questions and clear up potential doubts,’ Jasmin Frommhold says.
She recommends that other prospective founders first consider these key questions:
- Why do I want to become self-employed?
- What drives me?
- What values guide me?
- Do both the form of self-employment and the chosen subject really suit my personality?
