Let’s get started

Goslar-Wolfenbüttel Startup Incubator

A new support program is being planned by the Wolfenbüttel District Economic Development Agency and WiReGo.

A new, complementary form of support is planned in the Goslar and Wolfenbüttel districts to develop promising startup and innovation ideas into viable business models.

Expected to begin toward the end of the year, the Goslar-Wolfenbüttel Startup Incubator will serve individuals from the Goslar and Wolfenbüttel districts with innovative business ideas, spin-offs from TU Clausthal and Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, and innovators or innovation teams from existing companies in the region. Selected projects will receive active, intensive support through a training, coaching and mentoring program lasting several months. The result will be viable business models and corresponding business plans that allow the successful implementation of the innovation and startup ideas.

For you as a founder or innovator in a local company, the incubator is an ideal opportunity to turn innovative ideas into future-ready business models. Stay tuned and we’ll let you know early when the first application phase begins.

During an initial project period of just under three years, up to 32 startup and innovation teams are to receive support. The incubator will have two locations, at the Clausthal-Zellerfeld Startup Center and near Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Wolfenbüttel. The so-called batches, periods of intensive support for selected teams or individuals lasting around six months, will alternate between them.

The incubator will strengthen the existing close links between the economic development agencies, TU Clausthal and Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences, including through the practice-based, project-oriented Digital Technologies degree program. It will also help provide more effective support for startup and innovation projects spanning the two districts.

What happens next? The funding application to the Southeast Lower Saxony Future Region is currently being prepared. A decision is expected there at the start of the year, before NBank hopefully issues its funding approval in early summer 2026. The project team will be assembled by then at the latest so implementation can begin in 2026.

‘We’re very much looking forward to working with our colleagues in the Wolfenbüttel district’s economic development agency. It makes sense to work across district boundaries on this issue, pool our strengths and spread fixed costs among several partners. Our aim is to close the gap that still exists between the incubators in Braunschweig and Göttingen. We also want to show that an incubator can succeed in more rural regions without huge research institutions,’ says Dr. Jörg Aßmann, Managing Director of WiReGo, explaining the project’s background and goals.
