In October, ten founders met for in-depth, personal conversations at NewKammer in Seesen. WiReGo had invited them to its founders’ meetup, an event where potential entrepreneurs at every stage meet, from those with a first idea to those whose newly founded companies are gathering momentum. Insights from a recent startup story provided material for discussion.

Stephan Blöß attended in Seesen and introduced his company, ‘Geliebte Erinnerungen’. When the heavy demands of daily engineering work became too much for him, the chemist with a doctorate chose an entirely different career path. He became self-employed as an independent celebrant. He described vividly how his plans for self-employment kept changing and how he adapted his services to demand. He conducts non-religious wedding ceremonies and funeral services, organizes celebrations welcoming children and also works as a town and mine guide in the Harz.

His example shows vividly that a startup idea is never set in stone. Business success requires adaptability. He also highlighted how important it is to look after yourself. Especially when you’re self-employed, your own energy is your greatest asset.
